This week we will focus on our times tables.

The Mathematics National Curriculum for Year 2 says that children need to be able to: “recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 2, 5 and 10 multiplication tables, including recognising odd and even numbers.”

There are lots of reasons why knowing your times tables is useful to you. Firstly, being able to recall times tables facts quickly and confidently will make it easier for you to learn others in the future. By starting with basic tables and building up, you can begin to learn number rules which will make learning other tables easier. Knowing your tables also helps you with mental arithmetic. Knowing our tables can help you to understand other mathematical concepts and lastly knowing your times tables definitely increases your confidence in maths.

This week we are going to have some fun with times tables.
